The GPEG2 codec is a real-time MPEG-2 encoder and decoder that harnesses the computing power of graphic processors (GPU's) available today. It accelerates video and image encoding to compute at an incredible frame rate. GPEG2 video codec is a video compressor / decompressor that registers into the Windows® multimedia drivers and integrates with any application using DirectShow (Virtual Dub, Adobe Premiere, etc). Existing video players, such as Windows® Media Player® , Media Player Classic can use this codec to play MPEG-2 streams.The GPEG2 video codec supports several levels and profiles. Source formats supported range from Limited Definition (VCR quality) to full HDTV (720P or 1080P) - each with a range of 1 Mbit/s to 50 Mbit/s bitrates.
